The stripe paintings are from my student days when I studied color with Reba Stewart who had been a student of Josef Albers at Yale. Each of these canvases is produced using only 3 out-of-the-tube colors executed in an Albers design with carefully measured amounts of each of the 3 colors in each stripe. I’m still amazed at the variety of color available from just 3 tubes of paint!
Two Nudes, also from my student days at MICA, was done in a life drawing class taught by Abby Sangiamo, by far the best of my instructors.
There are several works in oil on canvas, mainly still life, while Winter Creek, Storm Surge, Cacapon Hills and Chincoteague II are encaustic (hot wax) paintings, an ancient technique dating back to the 1st century A.D.
